The Hidden 2 (1993) – 2 Non Critics

What can you say when talking about a direct to video sequel of a B-Movie that not many people remember?

A hell of a lot apparently.

Non critics Will and Dustin close the book on The Hidden saga(?) by getting deep into the guts of a film from Will’s childhood.

Does it hold up with his nostalgic memories? The Answer is “hidden” within.

2 Non Critics – Oldboy (2003)

Chances are you’ve either heard of seen or heard of the 2003 cult classic Oldboy. It’s a film that certainly elicits a powerful reaction from viewers. The same is true with Non Critic Will and Non Critic Dustin.

Hear from the point of view from someone who went into the film totally blind and someone else who knew far too much. One of the most lively discussions these two lifelong friends, and movie buffs, have had to date!

Bonus quick review of the recent remake.

2 Non Critics – God Bless America (2011)

Ranters on youtube are a dime a dozen. You can’t escape them. When we conceived of the 2 Non Critics program, I promised myself to not get ranty. Keep it direct and concise.

Tonight, I broke that promise.

Bobcat Goldthwait made a film that sparks discussion. And boy did it. I steal this show from Non Critic Will who can only sit back and watch his pathetic friend lament on the monotony of daily life.

2 Non Critics – Odd Thomas (2013)

Two days in a row!

Non Critic Will and myself join each other from across the globe to talk about the latest (and best) Dean Koontz film adaptation.

The premise may turn you off, but the characters will suck you in.

Odd sees dead people. But then, by God, he does something about it!

The Title Problem

Later tonight will see the broadcast of our first movie review series. It’s something I’m very excited about because it will be with my oldest friend, Willie Grace. We’ve spent most of our lives talking about movies. Now we’re taking it to the next level.

Just one problem – Our title sucked.

I took video production in high school. The class produced a successful public access series called Sports Week. Nothing puts me to sleep faster than sports, so I didn’t work on it much. That is until a classmate and I developed a movie review segment. We called it 2 On 1 Movie Review. Sounds very dirty, but it summed up the show. Two film fans talking about a movie. It took us forever to come up with that!

Now, ten years later, I have the same problem. Up until now I referred to it as Movie Catch Up. Made sense. The concept is two movie buffs with different tastes talking about movies. Each week one of us suggests a movie for the other to watch and we talk about it. Yeah, but it’s bland. Not to mention it sounds like Rotten Tomatoes and  their Weekly Ketchup.

In homage to my roots, it is tentatively titled: 2 Non Critics. Not sure if it’ll stay that way, but it works for now. That’s what we are after all – two kids who grew up loving to talk about movies.

*I was partial to calling it Cineaste Infection. Don’t think that would fly though.
